Controversial retailer Sports Direct have once again got under the skin of Rangers fans by launching Castore’s new Ibrox away kit before Castore.
Inspired by the famous Umbro Davie Cooper jersey, the stylish white and red away top appeared on Sports Direct-linked eBay marketplace Kickback this week.
It’s the second time this season that a Mike Ashley owned business had launched a Rangers kit early after Sports Direct did the same with the home jersey.
At least Rangers fans can take some solace in the fact that they are not the only Castore club that this has happened to.
But – and this is important – the reaction has been mooted by the fact that both jerseys were actually leaked before Mike Ashley had the chance to spoil the launch.
Castore have a major issue with leaks from within whatever factory they’re using the produce their football jerseys as almost all of their clubs have suffered as a result.
Sports Direct-linked company releases Rangers away kit before Castore
Rangers’ away kit was leaked in May and fans already knew that this white and red design was set to be the club’s second kit this season.
But that doesn’t stop the fact Mike Ashley has launched the kit first from being a minor annoyance as grumbles continue about Castore in the support.
Rangers fans are a notoriously difficult bunch to please and whilst Castore have been revolutionary for the club’s retail after years of boycotts and other issues, things certainly haven’t been perfect.
Rangers continuously lose control of kit launches with the Manchester-based manufacturer and it would be nice for the club’s retail just to behave normally for once.

But with Ibrox support so conditioned to absolutely mental retail problems, what’s one more Sports Direct retail drama amongst a plethora of them?
However – and this is the biggest news around Mike Ashley – Rangers have settled their court cases with the billionaire and all should become clearer by the next AGM.
