The clubs involved in an SPFL league reconstruction task force have been announced as ambitious plans for the future of the Scottish game are considered by the powers that be.
Scottish football is currently in uproar over an SPFL proposal which was compromised by a scandal involving Dundee’s altered Yes vote.
The SPFL have since announced their controversial proposal has passed, with numerous clubs appointed to oversee the discussion on league reconstruction.
The representatives involved in the task force which will attempt to provide a suitable proposal to clubs across Scotland are as follows:
Airdrieonians – Paul Hetherington
Ayr United – Lachlan Cameron
Cove Rangers – John Sheran
Dundee – John Nelms
Edinburgh City – Jim Brown
Falkirk – Gary Deans
Hamilton – Les Gray (joint-chair)
Hearts – Ann Budge (joint-chair)
Hibs – Leann Dempster
Partick Thistle – Jaqui Low
Queen’s Park – Gerry Crawley
Raith Rovers – Bill Clark
Highland League – Rod Houston
Lowland League – George Fraser
The decision to form the task force comes despite vocal opposition from several clubs regarding the SPFL proposals to consult on reconstruction.
Ayr United chairman Lachlan Cameron described the plans as “insane” [Daily Record] despite residing on the league reconstruction task force.
Clyde have also raised their worries over the financial implications of reconstruction [Clyde] amid the footballing shutdown for lower league clubs.
Hearts chair Ann Budge has previously described herself as being “disillusioned” [Hearts] with the SPFL proposal despite chairing the team set-up to propose league reconstruction.
