Hearts chairwoman Ann Budge is set to lead a special league reconstruction task force alongside Hamilton chair Les Gray, despite speaking out on league-ending proposals.
The Scottish footballing professional body has attempted to ratify its league-ending proposals after controversially accepting Dundee’s altered Yes vote [SPFL].
Hearts were a vocal opponent of the vote which will see the Tynecastle club relegated if UEFA call top leagues due to the global pandemic.

“The SPFL board has also committed to consult on possible league restructuring in time for season 2020/21 around an expanded Premiership model and has appointed Hearts chair Ann Budge and Hamilton Academical chair Les Gray to jointly lead a reconstruction task force, bringing in other football figures to provide input and support,” reads the SPFL statement.
“The SPFL executive will provide all possible services and support to make the work of the task force a success.”
Budge now has the unenviable task of building a case for league reconstruction with 11 clubs of the Scottish Premiership’s twelve needed to pass any reconstruction through.
The Hearts chair has also released a stinging statement in the wake of the SPFL statement, claiming she’s been left “disillusioned” by the entire thing.
“Yesterday afternoon’s announcement that Dundee FC has re-cast its vote, in support of the SPFL’s written resolution of 8 April leaves me both disillusioned and bitterly disappointed,” said Budge.
“The reasons for Hearts and others voting against this resolution have been well-documented and, sadly, anyone who believes this decision will draw a line under the whole matter, is in my opinion being optimistic indeed.
“Suffice to say that I believe the SPFL should have admitted that errors had been made in the handling of this resolution, withdrawn it and asked clubs to revote.

“The outcome may have been the same but at least some of the criticisms would have been addressed.”
Budge has insisted that Hearts “will do everything in our power to find a solution with a positive outcome that works, not just for the 3 clubs in relegation spots, but for all of Scottish football.”
