Italian giants AS Roma are set to go with US kit provider New Balance amid reports Rangers retailers Castore tabled an offer to become the club’s retail partners.

The Gers signed a landmark kit deal with Liverpool-based retailer Castore in the summer, the brand’s first major contract with a football club.

Since then Castore have announced a host of partnerships with some of the biggest names in global sports but despite announcing their intentions to move into the top five leagues, are yet to announce a new deal with another football club.

“Football is the most popular sport on the planet, there are huge opportunities for growth in football alone,” said co-founder Tom Beahon [SportsPro].

“So I think we’ll do between three and five partnerships with leading clubs across Europe. That will be the initial focus for now.”

Serie A side AS Roma are one of the most lucrative clubs in world football and snaring the Italians would’ve been a major coup for brothers Tom and Phil Beahon, who co-founded Castore.

Back in October last year, Sports Pro Media reported that Castore were set to lock horns with New Balance in the race to replace Nike at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, reports coming out of Sky Sports in Italy believe that New Balance have won the race to manufacture the club’s shirts next season.

This won’t deter the manufacturers who’re determined to secure a series of topflight European clubs and upset the stagnant market which is dominated by two or three brands.

Reports have also suggested that Castore are set to announce new deals with two leading Premier League clubs heading into next season.
