QPR fans continue to bemoan Rangers manager Michael Beale as the Championship club fall to a post-World Cup break defeat to Burnley.
Vincent Kompany’s side rolled into Loftus Road with swagger and rolled right on out with three points as a comprehensive 3-0 defeat kickstarted the post-Michael Beale era at QPR.
But despite the fact goals from Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ian Maatsen and Nathan Tella humbled the London club on their own patch, reports from inside the ground suggested the Rangers boss was at the forefront of the support’s thinking.
Rangers boss Michael Beale has made no qualms about his allegiances to the Ibrox club in the past and even said whilst QPR manager that “nobody turns down Rangers” [Rangers Review].
Despite this, there has been a fierce backlash to Beale’s switch to Ibrox, where the manager spent three-and-a-bit years as assistant coach to Steven Gerrard.
Salty QPR fans left Beale-ing by Michael’s Rangers exit
Most of this stems from the fact that Beale, who was in his first top manager’s job at QPR, turned down an approach from Premier League Wolves in the weeks before the Rangers move, citing his loyalty to Loftus Road.
But whilst a combination of football and family lured the ex-Liverpool and Chelsea youth coach back to Glasgow, QPR fans are struggling to come to terms with the whole thing.
As claimed by prominent QPR fan Toby Young, whilst his side were getting hammered on the pitch against Burnley the focus on Michael Beale was seemingly soothing the pain.
But whilst bemoaning the new Ibrox manager might make the Loftus Road fans feel better, they’ve got bigger problems than Michael Beale’s exit to Rangers.
The defeat to Burnley was the fourth QPR Championship defeat on the bounce and the club are now without a win in six matches.
But QPR have appointed a new manager, with Michael Beale being replaced by a former Blackpool coach for the second time in a year.
