Robin Propper has revealed whether he thinks he is fit enough to make his Rangers debut against Motherwell this weekend.

The Dutchman faced the Scottish mainstream press for the first time on Friday after making a £1.5m move from FC Twente at the start of August.

Propper’s journey from the Netherlands to Glasgow wasn’t all plain sailing and had to go surpass a number of Brexit-related issues to complete his paperwork and secure a UK visa.

Philippe Clement revealed that was the main reason why Propper was not able to start for Rangers against Dynamo Kyiv in midweek.

The Champions League third qualifier will conclude at Hampden next week with Rangers coming out of Poland with a 1-1 draw and huge hopes of reaching the play-off round.

So does Propper have a chance of making his debut this weekend against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership?

Robin Propper rates Rangers debut chances

The 30-year-old former Heracles Almelo and De Graafschap stopper was asked by STV Sport’s Raman Bhardwaj if he thinks he is ready to start at Hampden.

Propper replied: “Yes, I did all my work at FC Twente in preparing for the season. I think five or six weeks with some friendly matches so I think I am ready and can play.

“The players told me all about the fans. It’s a big stadium (Hampden Park), it’s not Ibrox I know but still it is a big stadium and I hope I can see a lot of fans cheering on tomorrow.”

Rangers supporters will be encouraged by Propper’s fitness admission which could see him start alongside either John Souttar or Leon Balogun at the heart of the defence.

Propper and his pre-Rangers research

Propper was also asked at the presser which former or current Rangers players he spoke with before making the move to Glasgow.

The centre-back revealed: “Cyriel Dessers, I played with him at Heracles (Almelo) and played sometimes against him. So I directly called him.

“Sam Lammers too who just made the switch to FC Twente I talked to. Of course, the coach I talked with a few times so I tried to do most of the research I can do.”
