But United legend Rio Ferdinand still reckons that Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes would wipe the floor with the SPFL.

And yet come full-time the usual soundbites about English football’s superiority rang out across social media.
Rio Ferdinand makes Bruno Fernandes claim
Rio Ferdinand reckons that Bruno Fernandes would score 112 goals a season, essentially a hat-trick every game, if he played in Scotland.
The England and Manchester United legend was on commentary duties at Old Trafford and has had plenty to say in the aftermath of his team’s 2-1 Europa League victory.
Rio has bemoaned the goal that never was whilst Ferdinand was full of praise for Rangers youngster Bailey Rice.
But taking to social media platform X, the outspoken former defender also disrespected the game in Scotland when responding to ex-Chelsea star Jody Morris.
Whilst there might be more than a bit of tongue in cheek about Rio’s response, the comments have created quite a stir online.

Rangers put up Europa League fight
An injury-ravaged Rangers put in a spirited performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford to leave their Europa League last 16 hopes hanging by a thread.
Whilst the Ibrox side have qualified for the playoff round of the competition, Rangers now need to beat USG and hope other results go their way to make the top eight of the revamped league phase.
This would guarantee Rangers safe progression to the Europa League last 16 and ensure two less fixtures between now and the end of the season.
Rangers thought they’d nicked a point at Old Trafford when Cyriel Dessers netted a stunner at the Theatre of Drewam after Jack Butland had punched the ball into his own net.
But Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes popped up in injury time to capitalise on a lack of concentration in the Rangers defence and secure all three points for the English side.
