Rio Ferdinand fumes with three word post at what he saw in Man Utd vs Rangers

Rangers travelled to Old Trafford knowing that it was going to be a difficult evening against Man Utd.

Philippe Clement had a very limited squad to choose from as injuries, suspension and Europa League restrictions played havoc – not that it would have bothered several of the academy players who snuck onto the bench.

An even first half in terms of chances saw Utd hit the back of the net, only for the goal to be disallowed and for Rangers to get away with one, according to Red Devil’s great Rio Ferdinand.

Rio Ferdinand fumes at disallowed Man Utd goal

On commentary duty with TNT Sports, the former centre-half was far from happy with Leny Yoro being penalised for a push on the back of Robin Propper as a corner came in from Amad Diallo:

“I’m not having that,” he said live on TNT Sports.

“It’s so soft. He’s just touched him, he’s leaned on him slightly, he’s gone down like a pack of cards.”

Ferdinand doubled down at half-time, although Alan Hutton added a bit of balance in the studio by suggesting that it was easy to see why the referee blew his whistle.

Not that Ferdinand could help himself from posting on social media too, as if he hadn’t already made his point:

“Never a foul……” claimed the pundit.

Was the referee right to disallow the goal?

Ferdinand was trying to make out like Yoro barely touched Propper, who only had eyes for the ball coming into the six-yard box, but the teenage defender clattered into the back of the Rangers No.4.

Not many players can stay on their feet if someone behind them puts a knee into the back of theirs and then pushes them too.

Soft? Yes, however, as Ally McCoist said in commentary, once it was given as a free-kick, there was never enough for VAR to overturn it or send the referee to the monitor.

Sadly, Butland didn’t make the most of it as he threw one into his own net early in the second half to pile the pressure onto his own team.
