Reputable journalist Alan Nixon has provided an update over Rangers’ apparent interest in Zambian striker and KV Oostende forward Fashion Sakala.
Rangers have been linked with a pre-contract move for Sakala, 23, since late last year with reports recently suggesting the Gers had won the race to sign the forward [Scottish Sun].
One fan then asked Nixon on Twitter if the pre-contract deal was “close” with the journalist responding via a retweet.
The journo would confirm that Rangers have been stepping up their interest for a few weeks but admitted the deal is never done until it is done.
Been into it for a few weeks. Never done until signed. As your neighbours would tell you 😉 https://t.co/Sqmam2Tcfn

Sakala has netted 13 goals in 24 appearances in the Belgian top flight this season, with a pre-contract deal certainly appearing an attractive one for Rangers going into next season.
Rangers have already moved to utilise the pre-contract market already this year signing deals with Aberdeen’s Scott Wright and Bournemouth’s Jack Simpson before bringing them forward in January.
Rangers have also agreed a deal to sign 21-year-old Bournemouth midfielder Nmandi Ofoborh come the end of the season.
However, going back to Sakala, the player himself has previously claimed that discussions with KV Oostende are “going well” regarding an extension at the club.
