Celtic’s star defender Filip Benkovic could be out for the season after The Scottish Sun reported an injury picked up against Hamilton could spell curtains for the Croat’s Celtic career.
The news comes after Benkovic hobbled out of Celtic’s weekend win at Celtic Park. Despite playing the full game, the true nature of the injury never revealed itself until after the final whistle.
Not that Gers fans will be complaining. There’s no doubt this is a boost to Rangers title chances.

Loanee Benkovic is far and away Celtic’s strongest centre half. Parent club Leicester shelled out a whopping £13m at the beginning of the season to bring him to the King Power from Dinamo Zagreb.
That transfer fee shows just how highly the robust centre back is valued by The Foxes. Even if he did sheepishly hobble out of Celtic’s on-field hammering at Ibrox in December.
A towering presence at 6ft4, losing the 21-year-old is real blow for our rivals. The news comes at an interesting time too.

With only a few days left of the transfer window, Celtic would then be scrambling to replace the defender. Can they realisitically secure someone of similar quality?
Should they lose Filip Benkovic, Celtic will be left with wantaway Dedryck Boyata and inconsistent youngsters Kristoffer Ajer and Jack Hendry at the back.
Rangers fans will be watching this one closely to see how it progresses.
On the subject of injury news, Steven Gerrard provided an injury update for two of our own players as his side prepare for the challenge of Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup.
