According to Turkish outlet, Aksam, Moussa Konate is a transfer target for Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old Amiens striker has recently been linked with a switch to Ibrox.
L’Equipe reported that the Gers would be willing to pay just under €10 million for his services, although plenty of fans had a hard time believing that one.
The Scottish Sun then claimed that Rangers had distanced themselves from a swoop.
However, he’s the only forward the club have really been linked to, despite the ongoing uncertainty over Alfredo Morelos’ future.
Reported Rangers target Konate being monitored by Galatasaray
It’s claimed that Konate is ‘on the list’ of transfer targets for Fatih Terim as we enter the final few days of the summer window.
It’s also asserted that Alfredo Morelos’ name is on the list and that, in fact, he is the player preferred by the club’s technical committee.
It’s interesting to see Konate’s name pop up again and a move to Galatasaray is surely more realistic than a big-money move to Ibrox.
There’s simply no way Rangers would fork out €10 million on a third striker. Even if the club got double that for a late Morelos transfer, it’s still unlikely the board would sanction that kind of outlay.
It’s not as if the Senegal international is prolific, either. Sure, he has experience of playing in top European leagues like Serie A and Ligue 1, but his stats show he’s never really been more than a one-goal-in-three type attacker [Soccerbase].
If Galatasaray want him, then it’d doubtless be a great move for the player. He doesn’t have the credentials to be top of the Gers’ shopping list, though, even if Morelos leaves.
