The Scottish Sun reports that RangersTV commentator, Clive Tyldesley, has been sacked by Soccer Aid.

Tyldesley is one of the most high-profile football commentators in the UK after years of work covering international football and the Champions League for ITV.

He was demoted by the broadcaster earlier this year and was subsequently snapped up by RangersTV to call a selection of Gers home fixtures.

It’s not the only work Tyldesley has been doing, though, and in early September, he commentated on Soccer Aid 2020.

The charity event was a roaring success, with a record £11 million raised for Unicef from donations made across the match [BBC], which was won on penalties by the World XI.

Tyldesley came under fire for his performance in the commentary box, though, and was accused of making inappropriate weight-related comments about comedian, Tom Davis, and rapper, Chunkz.

Viewers also complained that the experienced caller mixed up players during the match.

The Scottish Sun reports that as a result, he has been told he will not be a part of next year’s event, with a new lead commentator set to be appointed closer to the time.

Tyldesley will be back at Ibrox on Thursday night, as Rangers face Galatasaray in a winner-takes-all Europa League qualifier.

He was named earlier in the week alongside the likes of Ally McCoist, Graeme Souness and Walter Smith as part of a an all-star RangersTV team which has plenty of Bears excited.
