Le 10 Sport have provided an update on the reported pursuit of Rangers star Alfredo Morelos by St Etienne.
The French club, who are currently fourth in Ligue 1 but struggling in Europa League Group I, have been linked with a move for El Bufalo since October [Le 10 Sport].

This latest report claims that they are very interested in the forward, having scouted him on at least two occasions, in the away European ties against Young Boys and Porto.
Yet, it’s suggested that given Rangers are ‘very greedy’ in their valuation, it ‘seems unlikely’ St Etienne will attempt to sign him in January, unless they sell either Lois Diony or Robert Beric.
In the summer window, ‘it could go differently’, as long as his valuation stays at a similar level.

Verdict
It’s good news for Bears that another big club appears to be out of the running for Morelos for the time being.
Of course, it’s ridiculous to suggest that by not selling for under £20 million, the Gers are being ‘greedy.’ In El Bufalo they have a major asset on their hands who has now proven his ability to score both in European competition and at international level.
Given their high position in a top European league, St Etienne are bound to carry attraction for players.
Yet, the fact remains that by staying at Rangers, Morelos has a genuine opportunity to both win silverware and to go deep into the Europa League.
