Ever since Glen Kamara signed a pre-contract agreement with the club, it has been rumoured that he could join Rangers this month, instead of the summer.
Jim McIntyre, Dundee’s manager, even played up the chances of an earlier move.

Despite Dundee being bottom of the table and battling the drop, they are clearly willing to let an international midfielder go. Why?
We surmised that cash from Rangers for Kamara, could be reinvested in another player during the window.
Yet, cash isn’t necessarily Dundee’s main motivation.
It seems that they are angling for an ambitious swap deal.
According to a report in the Daily Record, Rangers have turned down the chance to send Ross McCrorie to Dens park, in exchange for Kamara.
Rightly so.

The youngster was outstanding in the run up to the winter break, and has recently received praise from the Gers coaching staff.
Despite the arrival of Steven Davis, McCrorie should still play a major role in the SPL run in.
Does it mean an early Kamara arrival is now off the cards?
According to the report, Rangers aren’t against a player swap.
Yet, clearly, if the Dee felt McCrorie was the only suitable candidate, they don’t have to let Kamara go.
An obvious candidate to go the other way would be Jordan Rossiter.
However, Dundee may not feel he would make a significant enough impact to justify the Finland international’s departure.
This one is dragging out a little, but surely McIntyre will want it resolved sooner rather than later, so he and his squad can concentrate on trying to avoid the drop.
