Remarkable Rangers star Steven Davis has been called up by Northern Ireland for a pair of World Cup Qualifiers against Lithuania and Italy later this month.
The midfielder will turn 37 in less than two months but he continues to defy his age by playing both club and international football.
Davis has started three of Rangers’ last four matches and is likely to feature against both Brondby and Ross County over the coming days.
Yet, he’s still made himself available to represent his country, despite Northern Ireland being too far off the pace in Group C to qualify for Qatar 2022.
Davis is already the most capped UK footballer of all time but he looks set to move beyond 130 senior appearances for NI.
Both matches are due to take place at Windsor Park, with the first on Friday 12 November and the second falling three days later.
NI defeated Lithuania 4-1 in Vilnius in September but lost 2-0 to Italy in Parma in March.
The second game will be a big test for Davis and co. against the star-studded team that won Euro 2020 in the summer, with Roberto Mancini’s side still battling with Switzerland for top spot in the group.
Former Rangers players Shane Ferguson, Jordan Thompson and Jordan Jones were all also named in the squad, as was Rangers-linked Cardiff City centre-back Ciaron Brown.
Another Rangers midfielder has also been called up by his country for a pair of qualifiers as a historic achievement is eyed.
