No sooner have Keiran Dowell and Jose Cifuentes returned to fitness and the Rangers squad than Nicolas Raskin joined those currently in the Auchenhowie treatment room.

The 22-year old Belgian has been given more license to get forward under Philippe Clement and has looked close to being back to his best, that he got injured nearly scoring a half volley in the box is testament to this subtle tactical change.

The new Rangers manager needs as many of his best players available as possible if he is to see an improvement in performance and Nicolas Raskin taking a sore one could be bad news, an update from the boss via RTV doesn’t look good.

Rangers suffer Nicolas Raskin injury blow

Raskin seemed intent in trying to run off what looked like an ankle inversion injury, landing awkwardly on his right foot trying to wrap his left around the ball.

Speaking after the match and as reported by Rangers TV, Clement explained what the latest is on the midfielder:

“I didn’t see him yet so we need to make a proper assessment about that this evening or tomorrow with the doctors in hospital.

“I hope that it is not too bad because he has been important in the last couple of weeks and is a player with a lot of potential.”

Clement is right, in his first couple of games as Rangers manager, Nicolas Raskin has been dynamic and a driving force.

He is still needing to sharpen up with some of his passing but the intent is there with everything he does and greater consistency could well lead to the dream move that he was recently chastised for talking about.

In the formation that Clement has been trying to implement, he has usually had a double pivot so Ryan Jack might be the most obvious replacement.

Dowell is better on the ball though, however, after two months out, he will be miles away from being match fit.

Recent luck suggests that he will probably be out for some time but maybe, after the weekend’s events at Ibrox, suggests that it might finally be changing.
