Robby McCrorie has dropped an exciting hint on Allan McGregor’s future, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
The 21-year-old stopper is seen by many as the natural successor to McGregor at Ibrox, having come through the club’s youth system.
He’s currently out on loan at Queen of the South building up his experience, and has reiterated his desire to make it at Rangers, but doesn’t expect to be no.1 anytime soon.

Rangers youngster McCrorie hints McGregor likely to keep playing
“I’m in at Rangers training at the start of week so I’m still in touch and that’s important because that’s my club and where I want to be playing,” said McCrorie, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “The career Allan [McGregor] has had speaks for itself and I can learn a lot.”
“He’s a top-level goalkeeper. And you’ve got Wes Foderingham there too. He’s very good. I can learn a lot and take wee bits from everyone and try to add it to my game. But it’s important for me to be my own goalkeeper and to have my own path as well.
“I take a lot off Allan, even just the mental side. Mentally, he’s very strong. He looks after himself so I wouldn’t be surprised if you see him kick on for a couple of years because he doesn’t look to be slowing down.”

Verdict
McGregor is 37 and retired from international duty last season to concentrate on club football.
That’s a move some make as they’re beginning to wind down from playing and his current Gers deal is due to run out in the summer [Transfermarkt].
However, judging by the testimony of McCrorie, who trains with him on a weekly basis, he’s not only playing every game but showing the desire to keep pressing on.
While he clearly sees Greegsy as a mentor of sorts, this isn’t great news for the Scotland U21 international, as the longer the veteran sticks around, the longer he’ll have to wait for a shot at the no.1 shirt.
It’s exciting news for the fans, though, given the consistently high level of performance the Rangers no.1 has delivered since returning for a second stint at the club.
