High-profile referee John Beaton has been appointed for Rangers’ crunch Premiership clash against Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday evening [Scottishfa.co.uk].

The Gers are travelling to the capital seeking revenge following a chastening 3-1 defeat to Hibs in a Premier Sports Cup semi-final earlier this month.

Jack Ross’s side’s form has been poor on either side of that game, although they did come from behind to win at St Johnstone on Saturday with a former Rangers winger playing a starring role.

Confidence should be high in the Rangers camp given that Gio van Bronckhorst has started off his tenure with two relatively comfortable victories, the latest coming at Livingston on Sunday.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Beaton will be the man in charge and the 39-year-old whistler has officiated Rangers matches on 33 previous occasions, with the Gers winning 22, drawing four and losing seven [Transfermarkt].

Across the 33 matches, he’s shown just one red card to a Rangers player and six to opposition players, while the Light Blues have been awarded seven penalties and have only seen one given against them.

Beaton’s assistant referees will be Frank Connor and David McGeachie, while Nick Walsh is on fourth official duty.
