Rangers face a friendly with Derby County come to the end of July – a month on from when the Championship club reportedly tried to poach our manager.
And their pursuit of Steven Gerrard might not be over yet either. Derby have just released a statement saying they’ve given Frank Lampard permission to speak to Chelsea.
Should Lampard move, it’s a big loss for the Rams given the fact the former Chelsea man guided them to the Premier League Playoff Final last season.
Derby County can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.

Rangers will be welcoming the Pride Park club to Ibrox on the 28th of July as Steven Gerrard continues preparations for the new campaign.
With the links surrounding Gerrard in the background, it might be a friendly in name only between the two fans.
But any notion that he’ll be taking up the reigns in the opposition dugout come July has been well and truly thrown out.
But also, by Steven Gerrard himself. The Gers gaffer remains committed to Rangers and was waxing lyrical about just how much he’s enjoying his time in Glasgow [Sky Sports News].
So while it’s looking increasingly likely Frank Lampard won’t be visiting Ibrox in July, there’s very little chance Steven Gerrard will be either. At least as the opposition.
But will Rangers fans give Derby a frosty welcome in July or are the Ibrox faithful flattered by the Rams’ persistent interest in the Gers gaffer?
