Rangers trounce Old Firm rivals Celtic and the rest of Scottish football on YouTube interactions for the year of 2020 in a move which signals the progress being made off the pitch.

Rangers have steadied the Ibrox ship over the last few seasons and look on course to reclaim their position at the top of the Scottish footballing pyramid.

The club’s immense marketability has skyrocketed with Steven Gerrard in charge but it’s the work of those media professionals in the background which has helped build this powerful online brand.

Rangers didn’t just pip nearest rivals Celtic to the YouTube crown last year, they utterly annihilated them.

According to research done by Deportes & Finanzas, Rangers had 12.1m interactions on their official channel last year.

Interactions are calculated through every interaction on the club’s channel, that is likes, dislikes, comments and views.

Nearest rivals Celtic are almost five million interactions behind Rangers with 7.4m in statistics which back up the progress being made at Ibrox off the pitch.

Rangers have overtaken Celtic on the park – barring a disaster the club will win the Scottish Premiership this season – and the club’s progress off it is alluded to by this sort of research.

Everything from the media department, RangersTV, James Bisgrove to Steven Gerrard has catapulted Rangers light-years in front of the opposition in global marketing terms.

And the crazy thing is – this is just the beginning.

The same research group has previously ranked Rangers higher than Celtic on Instagram and the Ibrox supporters didn’t hesitate in making sure our rivals knew it.
