Rangers want to sign James Wilson, but the young striker has decided to turn down the chance to move to Ibrox and will stay at Heart of Midlothian instead.

According to Rangers Review, Rangers want to sign Wilson in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Celtic are keen on the teenage striker as well.

Clubs in England are reportedly interested in Wilson, too.

However, the Hearts youth team striker has decided to commit his future to his current contract.

Rangers target James Wilson signs Heart of Midlothian contract

Hearts have announced on their official website that the teenager “has agreed a two-year contract at Tynecastle, with the option of a further year.”

The forward himself is over the moon to have committed his future to Hearts, telling the club’s official website that he is “delighted” and “to kick on now and go even further”.

Hearts Sporing Sporting Director Joe Savage, too, is happy that Wilson has decided to stay and has not move to Rangers or any other club.

Savage said on Hearts’s official website: “He attracted interest and rightly so because his performances for Hearts and Scotland have been excellent.

“Teams are always going to take notice of that, but he’s chosen Hearts as his destination. We as a club will give him everything he needs to try and get into the first team and develop.

“We believe James is currently the best striker in his age group and the sky’s the limit for him. There’s so much to like about how he plays. He’s only going to get bigger, stronger and quicker.”

View: Rangers should continue to keep tabs on James Wilson

In our opinion, Rangers should continue to keep tabs on Hearts teenager James Wilson.

Just because the teenager has signed a contract with Hearts does not mean that Rangers should not try for him again next summer.

Rangers are a bigger club than Hearts, and in the coming years, the teenage centre-forward could be tempted to move to Ibrox.

The striker helped the Hearts U18 side reach the Scottish Youth Cup final in 2022 as well as captained the Scotland U16s at the Victory Shield.

Wilson is a big talent, and we believe that the Rangers scouts should continue to monitor his progress at Hearts.
