Rangers manager Michael Beale wants to sign Auston Trusty, and the Gers have now reportedly received a boost in their quest to secure the services of the Arsenal central defender in the summer transfer window.

Rangers linked with Arsenal defender Auston Trusty

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Rangers are keen on signing Trusty.

The Scottish Premiership club are reportedly ready to sign the USA international defender in a £2 million transfer deal.

And now Goal are reporting that Arsenal could decide to offload the 24-year-old, who spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship.

The report, written by journalist Charles Watts, has claimed that “Arsenal will hold talks with Trusty this summer to decide what the next step is for the defender”.

“Whether they cash in on him now, or opt to send him out on loan again remains to be seen,” adds the report.

“But it’s highly doubtful he remains in north London next season to be a part of Arteta’s senior squad.”

Encouraging for Rangers

That Arsenal could offload Auston Trusty is very encouraging for Rangers.

It suggests that the Gers could be able to sign the American defender.

Now, of course, Arsenal could think that a loan exit would be better than a permanent transfer, but that would still work for Rangers.

A move to Rangers could appeal to Trusty as well.

After all, Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world who will challenge for the Scottish Premiership title next season and could also play in the UEFA Champions League.
