Rangers are tracking Amiens striker Serhou Guirassy, according to The Courrier Picard.
It’s claimed that the Gers have scouted the 23-year-old this season, but that they are far from alone in doing so.
Premier League high-flyers Leicester City are also credited with an interest, as are multiple Italian clubs including Roma and Bologna.
Guirassy set Amiens back £5 million in the summer [Scottish Sun], as the Ligue 1 outfit opted for a permanent move following his loan spell from FC Koln.
In 27 league appearances for the French club, the 6ft 2″ forward has notched seven goals, with four of those coming since his permanent switch.
It’s understandable that Rangers would be looking at potential additions to their striking reserves considering Alfredo Morelos could leave in the summer, while at 37, Jermain Defoe surely doesn’t have many seasons left in him.
Guirassy’s goalscoring record is hardly earth-shattering, but he’s a former French youth international who must be doing something right judging by the calibre of the club credited with an interest in him.
Given that he’s contracted until 2022 [Transfermarkt], there’s no real prospect of picking him up on the cheap. A substantial transfer fee would be required to prize him away from Amiens and even at that, given he only signed there six months ago, a January departure seems unlikely.
