Rangers are set to face competition from relegated Championship club Leeds United in the hunt for Millwall defender Jake Cooper.
That’s according to reputable transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has put his name to the story in Football Insider and also mentioned West Brom as Cooper suitors.
The Gers have been linked with a move for Jake Cooper since 2018 with the interest reportedly resurfacing in this window as the club target a left-sided centre-back.
Several names have been rebuffed by the club via Michael Beale or prominent fan media but the links to Jake Cooper persist in the mainstream press.
These include from the Pete O’Rourke report, which claims that Rangers, Leeds United and West Brom are hoping to strike a “cut price” Jake Cooper deal.
This comes with the towering 6ft6 Millwall centre-back being in the final year of his contract at the Den, although manager Gary Rowett has been clear the club want to extend the deal.

The report also claims that Rangers have made contact over a move and let’s see if Jake Cooper is the defender Michael Beale wants to round off a busy summer.

Rangers v Leeds United in Jake Cooper bid
The Gers have made nine signings so far this summer with leading fan media suggesting the club is not done yet as the window enters its final 10 days.
Rangers have already made moves for Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland, Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima, Cyriel Dessers, Leon Balogun, Danilo and Jose Cifuentes in this window.
As far as outgoings are concerned, several big players have already left Rangers this summer with more expected to follow before the windows slams shut.
Of them includes Finnish international Glen Kamara who – amid Leeds United links to Jake Cooper – may well be set to move to Elland Road himself this month.
