Former Liverpool, Fulham and England midfielder Danny Murphy has tipped Rangers as a potential destination for £46.8m-rated English international Dele Alli.
The former MK Dons midfielder has found chances at a premium with Jose Mourinho and Spurs and ex-midfielder turned pundit Murphy believes Ibrox would be an ideal destination.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy made the claim ahead of the January transfer window and believes Steven Gerrard would be the man to get the24-year-old midfielder’s career back on track.
The ex-Liverpool midfielder also suggests that in doing so Alli would have an outside chance of making the England squad.
“I’m not sure Dele would be up for it, but I thought maybe Stevie G at Rangers could persuade him to go there and win him the title,” said Murphy.
“He’d play every week, score a lot of goals, get his confidence up and impress Gareth Southgate.
“There is an argument to say ‘would that be enough scoring at that level?’ because it is a drop down. But I don’t know. Maybe playing under Stevie is something that he would enjoy.”
Alli joined Tottenham in 2015 as a teenager and burst onto the scene at White Hart Lane becoming a key first team player and earning international call-ups with England, for whom he has 37 caps.
In his sixth season in North London, Alli had previously played over 220 times for Spurs scoring 60 goals – including 22 in one season back in 16/17.

However, the midfielder has found chances at a premium this season making only nine appearances under Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho with Spurs to the top of the Premier League.
Alli isn’t the only midfielder being linked with a move to Rangers either – another international star plying his trade in England has previously been sounded out for a move to Ibrox.
