The last few weeks could have been oh so costly for Alfredo Morelos.
Yet, apart from the frustration of missing four matches through suspension, he’s managed to get away near scot-free.

In his absence, the Gers have been galvanized.
After an extremely poor March, Gerrard’s side pieced together a perfect April with four consecutive wins.

The 22-year-old was also in danger of losing out on a big personal award.
With Morelos sidelined, Sam Cosgrove had a golden opportunity to usurp him and take control of the SPL top goalscorer race.

Yet, after a brace against Dundee which took him to within touching distance, it’s all gone quiet.
He drew a blank against Kilmarnock and then again, against the Gers at Ibrox, on Sunday.
Having proved unable to get the better of either Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, he was substituted by Greg Stewart, after 76 minutes.

With 16 goals to El Bufalo’s 17, the race isn’t over just yet. But the Colombian is now back in control of his own fate, with three matches remaining in the season.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will come straight back into the side against Hibs on Sunday.
He will get game time between now and the end of the season, though, and now he’ll be looking to stretch his lead out even further.
