Rangers supporters in disgust regarding lack of Sky Sports coverage

Sky Sports are again a major talking point as Scottish matches were disregarded in midweek, Rangers included.

There were six Scottish Premiership matches taking place last Wednesday, with a grand total of none being shown live.

This has been a regular problem for fans of Scottish football, as the game tends to dip under the radar compared to our English counterparts.

It’s something which has been highlighted by Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan, with Rangers fans in particular missing out on an emotional tribute to Walter Smith.

Sky instead showed midweek English League Cup clashes, with the broadcaster maintaining that Scottish games were always up against it.

This isn’t fair on the people who have paid a monthly subscription for the service to never see their team live.

When Rangers are playing at Ibrox, supporters can benefit from seeing the match on Rangers TV and don’t have to worry about Sky Sports. When the lockdown was in place last year, more and more clubs were offering digital passes to watch matches.

This doesn’t mean all fans want to pay vast sums every week to watch their team live. Sky should be providing a platform in which Scottish teams get some leverage.

Things will hopefully look more promising for fans as Sky will show three-midweek matches at the end of November and the start of December.

Hopefully, once the current deal ends with the broadcaster, Scottish football will be able to negotiate a better deal elsewhere.

Although, under the current hierarchy, this might prove to be somewhat difficult considering their recent failings.

Rangers fans want and deserve better. With the title race being wide open, the onus is on Sky to showcase our game better.

With a little bit of luck, a change of pundits and commentators too.
