Frustrating Ibrox international Jordan Jones is set to leave Rangers on loan after a disappointing first few months in Glasgow following his summer move.
According to the Daily Record, Jones is edging closer to a loan move out of Ibrox with Middlesbrough, the club where the former Killie winger started his career, amongst the frontrunners.
The claim comes after five English Championship clubs were named as having an interest in the pacey 25-year-old wide man.
The clubs reportedly interested in signing Jones included Hull City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and of course Middlesbrough [Daily Record].
For much of the window, reports followed Middlesbrough’s reported interest and if these latest claims are to be believed this could now be the Northern Ireland winger’s destination.
Signed on a pre-contract deal last January, Jones joined Rangers from Kilmarnock on a four-year deal in the summer.
A pacey winger with an affinity for the club, his short spell in Glasgow so far has been marred by an injury he picked up in the 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox in September.
Jones clattered into Celtic full-back Patrick Bauer, receiving a red card with a four-month spell on the sidelines due to a knee ligament issue adding insult to injury.
After some bright performances against the likes of FC Midtjylland and Legia Warsaw, Jones had begun to break into Steven Gerrard’s plans but it now appears as if he has fallen out of favour.
Should Jones move on and potentially raise a fee for Rangers in the future, Ross Wilson will have worked his magic behind the scenes at Ibrox.
Jones has made 12 appearances in total for Rangers, making two assists [Transfermarkt].
