Rangers striker Cedric Itten made a brief cameo appearance for Switzerland as they earned a UEFA Nations League point against a talented Germany side in a stunning six-goal thriller.

Switzerland raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half, with Mario Gavranovic opening the scoring in the seventh minute and Remo Frueler doubling the lead 19 minutes later.

But within two minutes of the Swiss doubling their advantage, Chelsea striker Timo Werner would haul the Joachim Low’s side back into the match.

Fellow Stamford Bridge summer signing Kai Havertz would then get the Germans back on level terms before Dinamo Zagreb forward Gavranovic got his second to restore the lead only a minute later.

Only four minutes later Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry would restore parity with Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar seeing red in injury time.

Itten would come with only five minutes to go as he made his fourth cap for the Switzerland national team.

Summer signing Itten, 23, joined the Gers for a reported £2.5m fee after a stunning season with FC St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League where he netted 19 goals.
