Links to Real Valladolid and La Liga striker Sekou Gassama have resurfaced amid much exit talk concerning Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
Rangers allegedly had a £2.7m (€3m) bid rejected for the striker earlier in the transfer window before launching moves for Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.
But now those reports have resurfaced with one even claiming Rangers remain interested in the player.
The story appears to have originated with Tuttomercatoweb in June, who claimed Rangers had an initial bid knocked back for the 25-year-old striker.
Transfer20 are now claiming there is a 50% chance the Senegalese forward could leave Valladolid after the La Liga side signed Shon Weissman.
Rangers were also linked to Israeli forward Weissman but he opted to move to Real Valladolid last week in a reported £3.5m (€4m) move.
The story about Rangers bidding for the player then reappeared on French outlet WIWSport.com, appearing to combine the Transfer20 and Tuttomercato stories into one piece.
It also claims the striker is a “target” of Rangers.
This was then echoed by Puchela Fichajes – a leading voice on Real Valladolid – who claim Rangers are “still interested” in the player.
That report claims Gassama has also been subject to interest from the Spanish second division and from abroad but claims it will take £3.5m (€4m) to prise him away from Estadio José Zorrilla.
Gassama spent the second half of last season on-loan with Liga Segunda side CF Fuenlabrada after the Senegalese striker, 25, joined Real Valladolid from Almeria in January.
The striker would go on to score three goals in nine games for Fuenlabrada after joining them on loan before the coronavirus shutdown.
Gassama has also scored in Valladolid’s 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Granada and the club’s 2-1 pre-season defeat to Sporting Lisbon after returning to Valladolid.
Five clubs are reportedly swirling around Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as his Ibrox future remains up in the air and this may have to be settled before the club move for any other forward players.
