Lille president Gerard Lopez has kept the door open for a potential return for the player but hinted others may need to be moved on from Stade Pierre Maupay first.

Amid Lille’s interest in the player, Italian giants AC Milan then emerged as potential candidates for the striker’s signature.

Football Insider claimed the Serie A side registered their interest in the frontman in the early part of the season with a view to moving for the striker.

Portuguese giants Porto were the next to be linked to the Rangers striker by the Scottish Sun who claimed the Primeira Liga side were impressed by the player in the Europa League last season.

Morelos hit two goals in two matches against Porto as Rangers took four points from the Portuguese side and they now have cash to burn following the £35m sale of teenage wonderkid Fabio Silva to Wolves.
