Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has threatened to sanction unruly fans as the club looks to crack down on sectarianism.
Speaking after the launch of the club’s ‘Everyone, Anyone’ inclusivity campaign, Robertson spoke about a range of “rehabilitation” initiatives but insisted the club will come down hard on anyone who refuses to change.
The whole thing is about showcasing Rangers as a modern, progressive football club and the powers that be at Ibrox clearly want supporters to embrace that.

“We’d much rather work with people and get them to change their behaviours before we get to that stage,” explains Robertson, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“If people don’t want to change we’ll have to look at an appropriate level of sanction but we’d rather adopt this positive campaign of education.

“We want to educate and engage with supporters who indulge in unacceptable behaviour. I don’t know if it will work for everyone but if we don’t try we’ll never know.
“We don’t want to become a channel where fans’ views are ventilated. We want our fans to come here and be positive about Rangers. It’s 2019, let’s take things forward.
The statement from Robertson, alongside the new campaigns, comes in the run-up to the club’s 150th anniversary in 2022.

Rangers are to be commended for taking this positive step to tackling issues surrounding sectarianism in Scotland and from Robertson the message is clear.
Get on board with what Rangers is trying to do, or the club will be forced to act.
After all, it’s the club that takes the flak.
