Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has had his valuation increased by Transfermarkt to £13.5m after his 29 goals this season.

The Colombian international striker was in sensational form in the latter half of 2019 and was officially recognised by UEFA [UEFA] for breaking the record for the most European goals by Christmas.

Alfredo’s form led Rangers Chairman Dave King to say Rangers would reject £40m for the striker’s services [Scottish Sun] in the January transfer window.

Transfermarkt’s valuations of players is anything but an exact science but it is a testament to Alfredo’s growing reputation across Europe.

The striker’s disciplinary problems have been a common crutch to his reputation outside of Ibrox and unfortunately, these reared their ugly head once again towards the end of 2019.

Morelos saw two red cards in three domestic matches as he was sent off for two yellow cards in the matches against Motherwell and Celtic.

Since serving a two-game league suspension and one game cup suspension for accumulated bookings Alfredo has only scored once in 2020.

His stumbling form has been a great source of frustration for Rangers fans who are determined to see their talismanic forward return to his best.

Alfredo’s only goal this year came in the Scottish Cup tie against Hamilton, but he has had two strikes unfairly and incorrectly chalked off against Kilmarnock and Livingston.

That means that Morelos is without a league strike since Boxing Day, playing six matches in the Scottish Premiership without scoring.
