Rangers star Joe Aribo faces a suspension if he gets booked against Red Star Belgrade in next week’s away leg, joining Alfredo Morelos, Fashion Sakala, and John Lundstram in facing a potential Europa League ban.
The Ibrox side powered to a fantastic 3-0-win last night, with Tavernier, Morelos, and Balogun scoring the goals which give the club a massive advantage ahead of the tie in Belgrade next Thursday.
The only real downside was the fact Aribo was cautioned and if he receives another yellow, he will be suspended for the quarter-final first leg, bearing we make it through.
With all yellow cards not being wiped until the semi-final stage, the club still has three matches to get through whilst praying no more cautions are given.
Joe Aribo faces Europa League suspension threat following Red Star Belgrade caution
Even though we have one foot in the next round, the Gers can’t afford to lose anyone for future matches, especially with a fixture overload fast approaching.
Although Aribo hasn’t been at his best since coming back from his Africa Cup of Nations disappointment with Nigeria in late January, one form he still remains one of our finest players.
Full credit goes to the aforementioned three who are also on ban threats as their composure and behaviour were excellent in the first leg.
Losing Morelos for a European last eight tie would be a huge blow and one that would surely affect our chances as he comes to life on these famous nights under the Ibrox floodlights.
Hopefully, the same maturity is shown next week as it was last night and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have absolutely nothing to fear.
