Rangers star Filip Helander has opened up on his Rangers future, stating that contract talks between himself, and the club have yet to take place, despite his contract expiring at the end of next season.

Helander was out injured for five months before recently coming back into the team for the Scottish Cup tie against Annan Athletic at the start of February in what was a much-needed boost for the side.

The Ibrox side struggled majorly at the start of the season, especially defensively and this was no coincidence that Helander was out through injury.

The partnership of the Swede and Connor Goldson was vital as the club clinched the league title last season, but it’s looking increasingly likely that this partnership will be broken up in the summer.

Helander was left out of the Europa League squad as Gio had to announce an updated list at the start of the year and he expressed his disappointment before further comments were made on his future.

No, we haven’t talked so far,” said Helander [Fotbollskanalen].

“But there’s more than a year left, we will see what happens.”

I doubt any Rangers fan wants to see the Swede move on, especially when he is at the peak of his career. Of course, the injuries haven’t been great, but when he is fit, the centre back is a colossus at the back.

Goldson could potentially be on the move in the summer and with John Souttar arriving on a pre-contract, then it will be a transfer window that will see a lot of changes at Ibrox.
