Rangers star targeted on social media by pundit, should club intervene?

There is a fine line between banter and bullying with Rangers star Todd Cantwell having to endure the attentions of a man twice his age.

Yes, Chris Sutton is at it again, it’s not the first time that he has picked on the Gers number 13 and, no doubt, it won’t be the last.

At what point do Rangers have to intervene so that Todd Cantwell can concentrate on football rather than having to put up with the former Celtic striker’s incessant accusations.

Rangers need to respond to latest Todd Cantwell attack

Posting, as he always does, on X, Sutton has named his top five list of the worst divers of all time and, predictably, he has named Cantwell at number five.

In an age when mental health is at the forefront of almost every industry, football remains miles behind.

Cantwell had already been absent this season due to personal reasons and shouldn’t have to contend with this sort of nonsense too.

I mean, he’s not even the worse five in Scottish football this season, never mind of all time.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s highlight reel is embarrassing.

It’s not just exaggerating contact, which most players do, on several occasions he has ran into a player then gone down holding his face – all you have to search for is “Kyogo diving” on social media to see his back catalogue.

Nobody in Scotland tries to con the officials as often as Kyogo – funnily enough, he’s not been quite as bad with VAR in play now.

The incident with our own John Souttar when he was at Hearts, is bizarre.

The Japan international grabs Souttar’s arm before falling over, the Gers defender doesn’t even react, he just stands and looks in disbelief.

Then there was the time he ran into a defenders chest with his head and went down holding his face.

Or, what about the time he was given a pat on the head and, again, went down holding his face.

Todd Cantwell had never done anything like this in his time for Rangers and Sutton has never criticised him before he came to Ibrox.

When you consider the treatment that the Gers playmaker gets, is it really any wonder that he occasionally goes down expecting contact?

After the abuse he has given referees recently, Sutton is really starting to take his punditry to a new low, and personal level.

And he wonders why he got banned from Ibrox.
