Rangers star Ianis Hagi has been snapped back in training as he prepares to return to action against Livingston on Wednesday night.

Hagi has missed the Gers’ last three matches after testing positive for Covid whilst on international duty.

The Gers won the first of those fixtures 2-1 against St Johnstone but then lost to Lyon in the Europa League before drawing 1-1 with Motherwell in the Premiership.

Plenty of supporters took to social media after Sunday’s slip up against the Steelmen, expressing their hope that the former Fiorentina and Genk player would be back soon.

He had been isolating at home in Bucharest but has returned to Glasgow and Gary McAllister claimed on Tuesday afternoon that the 22-year-old had looked sharp in training earlier in the day.

Then, much to the delight of many Bears, in the evening, Rangers tweeted a photo of Hagi at Auchenhowie.

As a result, it seems near-certain that he’ll go straight back into the squad for the Gers’ League Cup quarter-final against the Lions at Ibrox, although it’s perhaps unlikely that he’ll be able to play the full 90 minutes.

Hagi was a key man for the Gers last season, contributing eight goals and 15 assists in all competitions and had started the current campaign well, scoring twice and notching an assist before returning his positive test.

His comeback will add some much-needed creativity in the final third and he’ll no doubt be raring to go after several weeks out of the fold.

Ahead of the League Cup clash, another Rangers star has cleared up some confusion about his preferred position and stated his mission at Ibrox.
