Rangers star receives international call-up despite Kilmarnock shocker

After the disappointment of defeat at Rugby Park on Sunday, one Rangers star received good news on Monday morning.
Borna Barisic has been named in the Croatia squad to face Wales and Tunisia in international friendlies next month.

The left-back scored his first international goal during Euro 2020 Qualifiers back in March. However, he then picked up a hamstring injury which subsequently ruled him out of several weeks of club action.
Since then, he’s been out of favour at Ibrox.
Only because James Tavernier was rested for the final day clash with Kilmarnock, did Barisic get back into the side at left-back.

Unfortunately, he had something of a nightmare at Rugby Park. The 26-year-old was given the joint lowest score of all the Gers players in our post-match ratings.
That’s primarily because he had a hand in both of Kilmarnock’s goals.
For the first, he was caught badly out of position, meaning Chris Burke could get away to finish unchallenged.

For the winner, it was his clumsy handling of Stephen O’Donnell which gave Eamonn Brophy the opportunity to seal the points from the spot.

There’s no doubt it was soft, but Barisic gave the referee the opportunity to award the pen.
Rangers fans raged at the summer signing after the game. However, his recent lack of action and yesterday’s poor display doesn’t seem to have put Zlatko Dalic off.
He’s stuck by his man, meaning the Gers defender will once again rub shoulders with the likes of Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic, next month.
