Rangers star Connor Goldson says he is “proud” of the club’s response to the Black Lives Matter campaign as it is confirmed players will be invited to show solidarity against racism this weekend.
The SPFL have confirmed that players will take the knee as a stand against racism, highlighting the partnership between SPFL, PFA Scotland and Show Racism the Red Card on the Premiership’s opening weekend.
This will include a series of video messages from players across the 12 top tier Scottish clubs as well as special Show Racism the Red Card t-shirts, which will be worn in the warm-ups to matches.

Connor Goldson is the Rangers vice-captain and alongside a host of the team’s black players supported the sporting BLM movement in pre-season both by taking the knee and speaking out on social media.
This has been a contentious issue across the UK but a swell of Rangers supporters threw their backing behind the big English centre-half and his teammates in the aftermath of the decision.
Goldson took to Instagram to voice his displeasure and hurt at resistance to the movement from within the Rangers support and he has been left proud by how the club handled the situation.
“I was proud of the club coming out and making the statement they did, Stewart Robertson doing that,” said Goldson.
“We had the support from everyone. The gaffer pulled a few of us and said that whatever we wanted to do he would be behind us, however he could help he would.
“As I said on the post, I know it’s only a minority, but a minority does still stand at every football club. We just need to try and be as brave as we can and keep trying to eradicate it.”
