Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has claimed that Glen Kamara is carrying a knock from the weekend’s win over St Mirren as the club prepares to host Liverpool in the Champions League.

However, the Dutch coach appeared to claim that it might not keep the Finnish international out of the game with Rangers having no fresh injury worries ahead of the match.

Rangers are currently without a series of high-earning first-team players including the likes of John Souttar, Filip Helander, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi, who will all be missing until after the World Cup.

With Liverpool experiencing plenty of issues themselves, Rangers fans will be glad to hear there are no fresh problems at Ibrox even if Champions League stalwart Glen Kamara is carrying a knock.

The midfielder has been involved in every single one of Rangers’ European games this season.

The news also comes after Dutch coach van Bronckhorst urged his Rangers players to go out and take this Champions League group stage to the final game against Ajax.

At the moment Rangers are without a goal and a point and the club will have to change this by taking more points off a combination of Liverpool and Napoli than the Dutch champs do.

If the Gers do this, they stand a realistic chance of Europa League qualification if they can defeat Ajax at Ibrox in November.

“It’s a very, very difficult group with teams from a high level,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“You see big defeats in this group stage and that means results have to come our way in the next two games.

“That’s the only thing we can have still. The chance to play Ajax in the last game with a chance to qualify for Europe after the break.”

Meanwhile, Rangers have been handed a major player boost as a promising star nears a return to the first team.
