Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has been looking back to his best since Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been in charge of the Ibrox side, although it should be Roy Makaay that takes all the plaudits.
The former Bayern Munich striker was once one of the best forwards in the game, winning league titles in both Spain and Germany as well as representing the Netherlands at international level.
The Dutchman seems to be passing on all his knowledge to the Colombian, and it looks like it is working wonders for his confidence.
Morelos has scored six times and provided two assists in van Bronckhorst’s nine matches so far, looking like the Alfie of old and keeping this run of form up will be key in the sides title ambitions.
With news of Jermain Defoe leaving Ibrox, a player who Morelos had an excellent relationship with, it now looks like Makaay has taken on the mantle of master to the 25 year olds student.

Under Gerrard, the forward was often playing deep, thus his goal tally suffered. It wasn’t a role he was used to, although he did perform it with professionalism and helped the club win the league title at a canter.
His main strength is scoring goals, and this is what Gio and Makaay seem to be encouraging the player to do.
With a slight tactical tweak which has seen a change of formation from the Gerrard days, Morelos is now playing with a string of attacking midfielders behind him, which has in turn allowed him to boost his goal return.
Since Defoe has departed, working with Roy Makaay can only take the Colombian’s game to the next level.
