Rangers star Ben Davies has been left out of the club’s UEFA Champions League squad for the upcoming Playoff clash with PSV Eindhoven.

The 28-year-old defender is currently recovering from an early-season injury but is back in training even if he has not been selected for the squad by Michael Beale.

The decision comes amid much speculation surrounding the future of Ben Davies, who is one year on from joining the the club in a £4m deal from Liverpool.

Rangers fans remain unconvinced about the centre-back and Michael Beale has admitted that the club are in the market for another defender this summer.

Speaking recently about the player’s future, the Rangers boss was also coy on the inference that the defender could be set to leave the club.

However, despite returning to training, Ben Davies hasn’t been included in Rangers’ Champions League squad for the double-header against PSV Eindhoven.

Rangers boss Michael Beale has looked to Ibrox stalwart Connor Goldson and Scotland international John Souttar to hold the fort in the defender’s absence.

Rangers submit Champions League squad

Ben Davies isn’t the only one who finds himself out of Rangers’ Champions League squad, with returning pair Tom Lawrence and Kemar Roofe also out of the side.

Both players are returning from long-term injuries and clearly Michael Beale feels they will be better served focusing their fitness efforts elsewhere.

Pacey winger Rabbi Matondo, who showed shoots of resurgence against Livingston, also hasn’t been included as Michael Beale looks towards PSV.

Rangers overcame PSV Eindhoven to reach the Champions League groups last season but after major investment in their squad, they pose a different threat this time around.

After narrowly overcoming Servette, Rangers will have to be on their best in the double-header with the first leg kicking off at Ibrox on Tuesday (22/08) evening.
