Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has been named as the official SPFL Star of the Week for his performance and goal in the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Celtic.
The veteran midfielder, 36, rolled back the years to slam an overhead kick into the back of the Celtic net just before the 10-minute mark and set Rangers on their way to a largely comfortable victory.

It wasn’t just in scoring that Davo earned the plaudits for the Gers and the Northern Irish captain dictated the play throughout, showing that quality which has him in the running for Player of the Year.
Davo’s Star of the Week status also comes after a range of Celtic figures attempted to soothe the pain of the loss by consoling in Allan McGregor’s official Man of the Match award.
Veteran keeper McGregor, 39, was another top performer for Rangers and the goalie produced a string of impressive saves as well as one from the spot to deny Odsonne Edouard.
According to former Celtic manager Gordan Strachan, McGregor’s status as Man of the Match proves Celtic were unlucky.
"I was just on a wee rant there!" 😂

“Who’s the man of the match? Allan McGregor,” said Strachan [Premier Sports].
“For all the, the, they are, they seem to be more compact, yeah I’ve got that, Celtic made all these chances, I agree with the guys, at the back Celtic are not as compact as Rangers.
“But for Celtic to make all these chances today and who’s the man of the match? Allan McGregor.
“It’s all about can you play and can you deal with big occasions, so if I was John Kennedy what can I say to these guys, apart from a defensive shape that let them down a few times, and that can be rectified, that can definitely be rectified.”
Don’t know what game you were watching Gordon, but Davis and McGregor were amongst several potential Rangers Man of the Match awardees from yet another controlled Old Firm performance.
Next up for Rangers is a Scottish Premiership trip to St Johnstone and here’s how we fancy the Gers to line up at McDiarmid Park this evening.
