Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has described breaking the record for most goals scored in European competition before Christmas as a “proud moment”.
The striker’s 14 goals before Santa comes is the single best return from any player in the first half of a European competition in the history of continental football.
To be officially recognised by UEFA [UEFA] highlights the depth of this achievement and Morelos’ return cannot be understated.

The Colombian hit eight in the qualifying campaign whilst he sits atop the group stage leader boards with a further six against the likes of Young Boys, Feyenoord and Porto.
“It is amazing to find out that I have broken this record, but of course it wouldn’t be possible without all of my teammates helping me,” said Morelos [Rangers].
“To score for Rangers is always really meaningful to me and I enjoy scoring for the fans every single time. I love playing in big European matches here and to be able to set this record is a proud moment.
“I always dreamed about scoring in in really competitive leagues and competitions when I was a kid.
“I know that I have to keep growing and doing things right in every match, which I know I will with the support of my teammates and coaches here at Rangers.”
The little message at the ends seems to reaffirm the controversial striker’s commitment to the cause at Ibrox.

Despite consistent moans and groans from the east end of Glasgow and near-perpetual transfer talk, Morelos has remained focused to score 27 goals already this season.
Going by what the wee man’s saying here, they probably won’t be the last either.
It’s hard to argue against the notion that Alfredo Morelos is the most talented player in Scottish football right now.
