Rangers have been boosted by the news that summer signing and Zambian international striker Fashion Sakala is fit again ahead of the club’s clash with Celtic as he eye’s up an Old Firm debut.
The ex-KV Oostende striker has seen his arrival at Rangers interrupted by a groin injury which has prevented him from hitting the ground running at Ibrox.
Not seen since Rangers’ painful Champions League exit at the hands of Malmo FF, Sakala’s injury even kept him out of the clubs Europa League squad for the Playoff with Alashkert.
But as Sakala finally hopes to make his mark on the Rangers squad, the pacey forward took to Instagram to announce that he is ready to return.
Accompanying a graphic on the player’s Instagram story bigging up the Old Firm, Sakala says he’s “happy to be back” as he looks ahead to a potential debut in the derby:
Rangers star Sakala scored 16 goals in the Belgian top-flight last season and Rangers reportedly pipped a host of top clubs to sign the attacker.
The likes of West Ham and Newcastle United were linked from the Premier League whilst French Champions Lille were another side mentioned alongside the player.
In the end Sakala opted for Rangers and it’s a move the player is clear that he’d make again if the same choices presented themselves.
“I have the chance to choose again, I would still choose Rangers and I believe this is the perfect decision that I’ve made,” said Sakala [DJ Showstar TV].
“I had meetings with the Premier League teams. I had meetings with teams in France and in LaLiga.
“These big teams put in a lot of money in but I’m not looking for money. The money I’ll be getting for Rangers… my life will be secure.
“Playing for Rangers is better than playing for some Premier League teams. Playing for Rangers is better than playing for some teams in France.
“This is a very big team, one of the most successful in terms of trophies. They have a rich history and great fanbase.”
