Rangers star and Swedish international Filip Helander could be joined at Euro 2020 by a footballing legend after Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced he was coming out of retirement.

Helander, 27, is a regular in the Scandinavian nation’s squads and has earned 13 caps for his country, the last coming against France in November 2020.

The former Bologna centre-back has once again been called up for national team duties for the country’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Georgia and Kosovo.

The Scandinavians – who are 20th in the FIFA World Rankings – will also play Estonia in a friendly match during the upcoming international break.

But whilst Rangers fans are more focused on big Fil Helander, the story of the day from Sweden is certainly that concerning Ibrahimovic.

The striker, 39, has been called up to the squad for the first time in five years following his retirement from international football and marked his return in true Zlatan style.

The AC Milan striker took to Twitter to announce “the return of the God” as he looks to win his way back into the Swedish set-up just in time for Euro 2020.

Zlatan is the nation’s greatest ever goalscorer, his 62 goals in 116 caps almost 20 more than second-place Sven Rydell (43).

Sweden face a tough group at the pan-European tournament this summer where they will face off against Spain, Poland and Slovakia for a place in the knockout rounds of the tournament.

One Rangers player – who hasn’t been seen in the first team at Ibrox since last year – also got the good news he’d been called up for his country ahead of the upcoming break.
