Rangers star Fashion Sakala has praised the club’s fans for generating an ‘amazing’ atmosphere at Ibrox as he tasted victory in his first Old Firm appearance.
The Gers triumphed 1-0 in the first derby of the season on Sunday afternoon, with Filip Helander’s 66th-minute header the difference between the two sides.

Sakala made his comeback from a minor groin injury to play the final six minutes plus stoppage time in Govan, replacing Alfredo Morelos.
The Zambia international received some criticism from Ally McCoist for not making enough runs in behind the Celtic defence but he got one shot off on target following a brilliant piece of play from Steven Davis and he helped his side see out the win.
After the match, he took to Twitter to celebrate and praise the club’s supporters.
“Happy to be back, proud of the victory,” reads a section of his tweet. “Glasgow is blue. Big thanks to the fans and the atmosphere was amazing.”

Sakala hasn’t really had a chance to get going since joining the club earlier this summer from KV Oostende, but he’s got bags of potential and is already popular with the fanbase.
He’ll be hoping for considerably more game time after the international break, where matches will come thick and fast with Premiership, Europa League and League Cup clashes ensuring Steven Gerrard’s side will be playing twice a week for some time.
Meanwhile, Rangers fans were blown away by an ‘unbelievable’ player’s display against the Hoops.
