Rangers star Kemar Roofe snapped himself picking up a retro Ibrox kit – but it’s got some suspicious he’s gone against the club’s wishes in the process.

Such has been the rise of retro kits being purchased by supporters, Rangers have set up their very own brand protection team.

Rangers have an entire section of their website now dedicated to stopping counterfeit goods and “encourage fans to always buy official to directly support the club”.

That section of the website also encourages supporters to report anything related to the sale of counterfeit tops [Rangers].

But taking to his Instagram, Roofe has struck his own path by purchasing a replica of the classic 92-94 kit which is adored by supporters.

This may well also be an official replica or an original but not all fans are convinced.

Not that many have a problem with it either – it is genuinely wonderful to see one of the club’s latest recruits embrace the Gers and our history by purchasing this kit.

If the entire squad wanted a replica then you know what, the Champions can get a replica.

If anything, it shows you the immense appetite for these things from supporters all around the world, and perhaps reproducing them is something to think about for the club and for retailers.

Castore tried to satisfy the retro itch earlier in the season by releasing a stylish classic-style limited edition Rangers top to supporters.

But whilst fans rushed to snap the kit up, they’re a tad apprehensive now with some believing it’s a “jinx” due to its only outing of the season so far.
