Rangers star Allan McGregor has given a superb explanation for his decision to sign a contract extension at Ibrox [Glasgow Times].
Back in April, the former Scotland international penned a new one-year deal ensuring he’ll still be a Rangers player aged 40.

There were no question marks over his performance levels, given that he was named Player of the Year by the club’s supporters for his efforts last season.
Steven Gerrard was briefly unsure about whether his no.1 keeper wanted to go on, though, stating in March that the ball was in his court and that his decision would be respected either way [Daily Record].
Yet, according to McGregor, it was a relatively simple decision.
“You can’t call it a day when there are no fans there, I couldn’t do that,” he said [Glasgow Times]. “I need to play in front of a full Ibrox again and my body feels all right.”
“If I felt that I couldn’t do it anymore, I wouldn’t waste my time or the waste the club’s time either.
“I feel like I can still play, although that might change after pre-season! But I feel fine so why not keep going and try to win more.”

Supporters will love these comments from McGregor, who has been a standout performer on so many occasions since he returned to the club in 2018.
The chances of him getting to play in front of a packed Ibrox at some point next season do seem to be improving, too, given recent comments from Jason Leitch and the continued success of the vaccine rollout.
Last season’s league win was McGregor’s fourth with the club and 12th major title overall and a successful title defence in front of the fans would be some way to sign off.
Some Rangers fans are fearing that another Ibrox star is heading for pastures new, though, interpreting his latest Instagram post as a farewell message.
