Premier League side Sheffield United are reportedly preparing a move for one of Rangers’ rival’s key players – but should the Ibrox club be looking to pounce first?
Hibs forward Kevin Nisbet put in a solid showing as Jack Ross’ side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Ibrox over the weekend, but the Gers defence kept the prolific forward quiet in front of goal.

A summer signing from Dunfermline, 23-year-old Nisbet has emerged as a key player for the Hibees with momentum gathering for a place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for Euro 2020.
Despite his young age and inexperience at Scottish Premiership level, Nisbet is also vying for this season’s Scottish Premiership Golden Boot
Sandwiched between Rangers captain James Tavernier (11) and Ibrox striker Kemar Roofe (9), Nisbet’s 10 goals see him have an outside chance of securing the top goal scorer prize.
This is also in stark contrast to the likes of Lawrence Shankland, a Scotland cap and forward heavily linked to Rangers who has failed to hit his Championship heights in the Premiership with Dundee United.
The Scottish Sun are claiming an exclusive on Sheffield United’s interest in the striker as they look to salvage something from a torrid season in the Premier League.

But the Blades’ reported interest highlights the standard of player Hibs have in Nisbet and exactly why Rangers should at least have one eye on how the situation progresses.
Yes, Rangers have more talent in the striking positions since signing Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, yes, Hibs may well be a pain in the neck when it comes to transfer negotiations.
But Nisbet – like John McGinn before him – could be the latest from the Easter Road club to move on from Edinburgh, slipping through the net of the Old Firm, to impress down south.

That said, should Rangers fail to move for Nisbet, there’s always an international striker who’s just been released from his La Liga club.
